Balanced Rock is a popular rock formation in Arches that stands along the main road, towering at 128 feet with a massive balancing rock perched 55 feet above its base. Made of Entrada Sandstone, it sits on a pedestal of softer Dewey Bridge Member that erodes faster, hinting at its eventual collapse. You might even recognize it from the opening scene of "Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade."

This is an easy and kid friendly stop with a 0.3 mile loop around the rock. Although not paved the entire way, it is paved partially, making this stop accessible for everyone.
