Hello Emilie

The South Alligator River is located in the Northern Territory of Australia, and is home to an incredible variety of flora and fauna. At around 160 kilometers long, it's one of the main waterways in the area, alongside the nearby East and West Alligator Rivers. The river, which has an average discharge of 6,870 gigalitres of water per year, winds its way through stunning canyons, winding eventually to Point Farewell in the Van Diemen Gulf of the Timor Sea. The surrounding region features lush tropical habitats, with over 1,500 species of plants having been recorded. There is also high populations of the dusky rat and its predator - the water python. For those who enjoy birdwatching, the rivers host a wide array of waterfowl, such as magpie geese, ducks, herons, ibises, and spoonbills - attracting visitors from across the world. As well as this, the area also contains some of the most spectacular waterfalls in the country.
