Drangarnir is one of the most iconic sights in the Faroe Islands: a massive sea arch rising straight out of the North Atlantic!

Access is across private land, so most visitors will need to book a guided hike in advance. The full route is about 7 miles (11 km) round trip and typically takes about 3-4 hours, depending on conditions. The terrain is rugged and exposed, with muddy sections and limited trail markings, so proper hiking shoes and good weather are essential.

If you’re short on time, it’s sometimes possible to arrange a boat drop-off with the landowner to shorten the hike, but this isn’t guaranteed and should be organized ahead of time.

There is also the option to see Drangarnir by boat for a closer view from the water if hiking isn’t for you.

Always check the weather before going — the hike becomes much more challenging in rain or strong wind.
