When to visit and where to go in Germany

Spring in Germany:
When: March through June
What: Perfect for hiking and other nature activities as it's not too warm yet
Where: Best to visit west, central and east Germany. Skip northern and southern Germany as it's not warm enough and can be very muddy.
Summer in Germany:
When: July through September
What: Perfect for chasing waterfalls, exploring the mountains and chilling on the beach.
Where: Best to visit the mountains in southern Germany and the beaches in northern Germany. All of Germany is beautiful at this time, but it can get very hot in the valleys.
Autumn in Germany:
When: October through November (November can be very grey, so we suggest coming early October)
What: Perfect for hiking and chasing castles
Where: Best to visit west, central and east Germany. Mild climate and beautiful fall colors.
Winter in Germany:
When: December or February (come in December for the Christmas markets or in February for carnival)
What: Perfect for exploring old towns and Christmas markets
Where: All of Germany is perfect for Christmas time. For carnival, you want to visit west of Germany, specifically around the Cologne area.
