Kosovo

Kosovo is Europe's youngest state and lies at the heart of the Balkan Peninsula. Since declaring independence on 17 February 2008, the country has developed into a dynamic republic with a very young population. It is a culturally and scenically extremely diverse part of Europe that is still in the process of establishing functioning state structures and, it must be admitted, is therefore not immune to conflict.

Many people are still reluctant to visit Kosovo, which is unjustified, as this fascinating country can be experienced in an authentic and honest way right now, and visitors are sure to take home unforgettable memories.

We have compiled our information with the utmost care. We have only used official websites such as foreign ministries and Kosovar government websites or reputable websites on specific topics as a basis. Imaginative blog posts were not relevant to the compilation.

Nevertheless, this information may also contain errors, as legal situations can change.

Here are a few things to keep in mind when using our digital Kosovo guide / e-book:

1. At regular intervals, you’ll come across places marked with a small asterisk. We refer to these as “little breaks.” They are special spots in Kosovo. A breathtaking view, an unforgettable overnight stay, an inspiring hike, a quaint little church, a winery… simply special places that help you slow down—just stop by!

2. Our Kosovo guide is divided into the four geographical regions of the country: North, West, South, and East. We’ve placed the capital, Pristina, and its surroundings at the beginning.

3. Our digital guide includes several additional tools that you can conveniently download from our website at no extra cost: a camping guide, comprehensive country and travel information—including special topics for campers and traveling with pets—a journal with interesting stories and facts, an agritourism guide (in planning), exceptional and authentic restaurants (in planning), and much more. This program is constantly being expanded, so it’s worth checking back often.
