The Viking Pool at Leirubakki enjoys much fame. The pool is open to all hotelguests of Leirubakki throughout the day. The pool is right next to the buildings, is set within the volcanic earth and allows one to enjoy the peaceful nature of the area, including plentiful birdlife and a beautiful view of Hekla. All the houses, pools and hot tubs at Leirubakki are heated by steam and hot water that comes from the system which comes from the geothermal area a short ways from the Leirubakki area.

The view from the warm pool is another surprise many guests receive. The infamous volcano Hekla is in sight as well as other beautiful mountains in the southern region. ​The Viking pool is open during the summer season.
