Hidden beaches of Cornwall

Cornwall, United Kingdom

Pedn Vounder Beach is a dramatic, hidden beach on Cornwall’s south coast, near Porthcurno and Logan Rock. Surrounded by high granite cliffs, it is famous for its turquoise water and wide stretches of golden sand revealed at low tide. The beach feels raw and untouched, especially when the tide pulls back to expose shallow pools and sandbanks. There are no facilities or lifeguards, which adds to its wild, remote atmosphere. Pedn Vounder is often considered one of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall.

Travel Tip:

Pedn Vounder can be reached from Porthcurno Beach at low tide by walking west along the shoreline, or from the clifftop near Logan Rock via the South West Coast Path. The clifftop path offers spectacular views from above, but access routes may be restricted due to erosion, so always check local safety notices. The descent is steep and exposed, requiring good footwear and caution. Tide times are essential, as the beach is partially cut off at high tide. Always be mindful of strong currents and unstable cliffs.
