Just off the main road near Caherdaniel, you'll find a genuine piece of ancient history standing quietly in a field by the water's edge. The Darrynane Beg Ogham Stone, a tall sandstone pillar with mysterious, weathered carvings, dates back to the early 6th century. It's a beautifully serene spot, perfect for a moment of reflection on the Ring of Kerry. There's no formal car park, but you can pull over on the narrow road and it's just a few steps to the stone itself.
