In a quiet valley just off the Ring of Kerry, you'll find the Staigue Stone Fort, one of the finest examples of an ancient ringfort in Ireland. As you walk the short path from the car park, the impressive stone walls, built entirely without mortar, rise up to meet you, creating a powerful sense of stepping back in time. Climb the stone steps built into the walls for breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape and down to Kenmare Bay. There's a small donation requested at the gate, which operates on an honour system.
