Get ready for an adventure of a lifetime at Skellig Michael, a dramatic, rocky island that feels like a world away. Your journey starts with a thrilling boat ride across the Atlantic waves, which is an experience in itself (have motion sickness tablets if you need them fyi). Once you land, you'll climb over 600 ancient stone steps, carved by monks centuries ago, to reach the incredible 6th-century monastery at the top. The climb is steep and challenging, but the panoramic views of the wild ocean and the nearby Little Skellig, teeming with seabirds, are absolutely breathtaking. Standing among the stone beehive huts, you can't help but feel the immense history and solitude of this truly magical place. If you visit the island between late May to late July, you'll also see the quirky little puffins who use the island as their home base.
