Housed in the beautifully restored St. Mary's Church (not to be confused with the cathedral), this museum is a gem. It takes the "Medieval Mile" concept and gives it real depth – think ancient stone tombs, intricate carved crosses, and brilliant storytelling that brings Kilkenny's 800 years of history to life. It's not a dusty, boring museum. The space itself is stunning, with the original church architecture creating this incredible atmosphere. I'd save an hour for this, especially if I want to understand why Kilkenny feels so uniquely medieval. The audioguide is excellent, and you'll walk out seeing the whole city differently.
