The Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park is the only national park located on the island of Zanzibar, off the coast of northeastern Tanzania. Spanning over 50 km2, the park is home to a variety of wildlife habitats and species, such as the unique Zanzibar Red Colobus monkey, the Aders' duiker, the Sykes monkey, bush babies, more than fifty species of butterfly, and forty species of birds. Not to be forgotten, the nocturnal Zanzibar tree hyrax showcases its four "toes," three on each foot! And, thought to be extinct, the rare Zanzibar Leopard was spotted at the park in 2018. There are plenty of recreational activities for visitors at the park, most commonly ecotourism with residents, dolphin-watching, deep sea fishing, and bird watching. With picturesque Negro beaches and freshwater creeks full of fish, Jozani Chwaka Bay National Park has something for everyone and truly offers an unforgettable adventure.
