Located in the heart of London, Big Ben has become a cultural icon synonymous with Britain for centuries. The Elizabeth Tower, formally known as the Clock Tower, houses the Great Clock and five bells, the largest being officially named 'Big Ben'. Standing at 316 feet tall and constructed in the Gothic Revival style, this magnificent site was designed by Augustus Pugin and completed in 1859. Featuring intricate designs adorned with symbols representing the four nations, the Tudor dynasty and Latin inscriptions dedicated to Queen Victoria. It is among the most reliable clocks in the world, powered by its original mechanism, designed by Edmund Beckett Denison and George Airy, and constructed by Edward John Dent and Frederick Dent. The tower is constantly under renovation without compromising its historical integrity or silence of its bells. Visit for a breathtaking view from the top or marvel in the stunning architecture below!
