Rue de l'Université is a iconic street in the 7th arrondissement of Paris, renowned for its long history, closeness to the river Seine and flat terrain. Originally acquired by the University of Paris in 12th century, it was named 'Pré-aux-Clercs'- which roughly translates to 'Field of Clergy' - and soon earned notoriety as a hub for dueling. Eventually, in 1639, the university sold the land to the city and the street came to be known as Rue de l'Université. It was not until 1838 however, that both sections bore the same name. Today, the street is 2,785 meters long and crosses several other iconic landmarks like Palais Bourbon, the Esplanade des Invalides, and the Eiffel Tower, making it a must-visit destination for any tourist!
