The Bocca della Verità (Mouth of Truth) is a mysterious marble disc located in the portico of the Santa Maria in Cosmedin Church in Rome, Italy. This curious discovery is believed to have been part of a sculpted face that may have adorned the walls of the ancient Temple of Hercules Victor during the Roman Empire. The legend tells of anyone who dares to insert their hand into the disc’s mouth and decrees a lie will have it promptly bitten off! Despite this intimidating tale, it still attracts many visitors willing to test their honesty and give it a try, making for an entertaining and memorable experience.
