The Victor Emmanuel II Monument, also known as the Vittoriano or Altare della Patria (Altar of the Fatherland), is an impressive national monument built to honour Victor Emmanuel II, the first king of a unified Italy. This grand neoclassical structure between the Piazza Venezia and the Capitoline Hill features majestic stairways, Corinthian columns, statues, fountains, and an equestrian sculpture of Victor Emmanuel II. It is incredibly symbolic and representative of the Italian unification with representation of virtues and feelings in different personifications. The Vittoriano is considered one of the national symbols of Italy and each year it hosts important national celebrations. Visitors are sure to be awed and amazed by its grandeur and pageantry - and don't forget to take in the stunning 360-degree views of Rome from the top!
