While in Mataranka, you have to check out Bitter Springs. It's this hidden gem in Elsey National Park—think warm, crystal-clear waters winding through a lush, palm-fringed creek.

The vibe is super chill, and it's a perfect spot to float and unwind. The best time to go is early in the morning when it's peaceful and the birdlife is on full display. The water's always warm, around 34°C, so it's like a natural hot tub. There's a short, easy 500-meter loop walk around the springs if you want to stretch your legs, and the whole area is pretty accessible. Just a heads-up: sometimes the springs close temporarily due to crocodile sightings, so it's a good idea to check the NT Parks website before you go.

Also, there are no camping facilities at Bitter Springs, but the nearby Jalmurark Campground in Elsey National Park is a solid option if you want to stay the night. It's a must-visit if you're in the area!
