Tips to travel through the Riviera
Céline La Nissart
French Riviera, Nice, France
🚆 Train — cheap & fast (when it runs) The TER from Nice-Ville is your best bet for Antibes (25 min), Cannes (35 min) and Monaco (20 min). Affordable and frequent — but expect delays, cancellations, and serious crowds in summer at almost any hour. Sweet spots: early afternoon and evenings tend to be calmer.
Skip the machines at the station — download the SNCF Connect app before you go, the queues can be brutal.
🚌 Bus 100 — scenic & cheap The slow, beautiful coastal road to Monaco. Non-negotiable window seat on the right side heading east. Don't take it if you're in a hurry. But less people and way much nicier view.
🚗 BlaBlaCar / Uber / Bolt Reliable alternatives when the train lets you down — which it will. Bolt is often cheaper than Uber on the Riviera. Worth checking both before booking. Blablacar it's a share car Ideal to do small trip to Marseille or Aix-en-Provence, fast and nice.
🚗 Rent a car
Best way to explore the backcountry, hidden coves and villages off the beaten track. Book in advance in summer — it sells out fast. Check Getaround or Carentals for the best deals.
🚁 Helicopter — Monaco & beyond
BLADE operates shared flights from €195/person on a daily schedule — fastest way to arrive in style. Rexby
🎥 Panoramic tour — the Riviera from above
A 10-min shared tour over Monaco starts at €95/person. Want the full Riviera loop (Èze, Cap Ferrat, Nice, Cannes, Lérins islands)? That's a 45-min flight. One of the most memorable things you can do on the Riviera for under €100. Book via BLADE or Monacair.
🛥️ Uber Boat — coming soon Uber Boat by Thames Clipper is expanding to the French Riviera. Watch this space — coast-hopping by sea the way it was meant to be done.
