Leiðbeiningar

The Sólheimasandur DC-3 Plane Wreck is one of Iceland's most iconic and photographed landmarks. Resting on a vast black sand plain, the abandoned aircraft creates a surreal contrast against the dramatic volcanic landscape, making it a favorite destination for photographers and adventure seekers.

The U.S. Navy Douglas DC-3 crash-landed here in 1973 after experiencing engine failure. Thankfully, everyone on board survived, and the aircraft has remained on the beach ever since, becoming one of Iceland's most recognizable attractions.

Reaching the wreck requires a walk across the black sand desert, but the unique atmosphere and the history behind the aircraft make it a memorable experience unlike anywhere else in Iceland.
