Narikala Fortress is an ancient stronghold perched above Tbilisi, offering stunning views of the city and the Mtkvari River. Legend has it that King Vakhtang I Gorgasali built the fortress, but archaeological evidence suggests human settlement in the area dates back to the 4th millennium BC. The fortress has seen various rulers and expansions over the centuries, with most of its current structure dating from the 16th and 17th centuries. Visitors can explore the ruins, visit the restored St. Nicholas church, and soak in the rich history of this iconic landmark.
