Adjust Expectations

Instagram is known for showing only people's highlight reels, and the same goes for most of the Iceland content you see - the perfect weather, perfect conditions, perfect shot... While Iceland is incredibly beautiful with stunning, otherworldly landscapes - I needed to adjust my expectations of getting shots like what I saw online. Keep in mind that weather and time of year have a huge impact on what the scenery looks like. For example I was so excited for seeing the bright blue water at Studlagil Canyon and getting some epic drone shots however when we got there the water was a murky brown color and the winds were too strong to fly the drone. Another example was when we visited Diamond beach, the ice crystals were much smaller than what I was anticipating and since it was a grey, windy & rainy day - the scene just didn't feel as magical as what I was expecting. With all that said, you should plan on certain locations not looking exactly as you imagined, and still appreciating it anyway.
