Hotel Varmaland opened in 2019 after extensive reconstruction and renovation of the "Húsmæðraskólinn" (school for housewife). Originally drawn by Gudjon Samuelsson and built in 1946. Making sure to hold on to the history of the place the reforms added some comfortable and contemporary touches, resulting in an elegant hotel in the heart of Borgarfjordur where you can relax in a beautiful environment and nature.
The hotel has 58 rooms in four categories so you can choose a room that suits your needs. The rooms are in Scandinavian style where simplicity and comfort comes hand in hand.
On the top floor you will find Calor Restaurant which offers 360 panoramic view and tasty food from the region. On the first floor is a Bar Lounge serving happy hour from 15:00 to 17:00 everyday.
This beautiful is located in the middle of nature. It's in an ideal location to explore several different areas: the Golden Circle, the Silver Circle and Snaefellsness. So book a few nights here to enjoy all of those areas. And in the evening you get to enjoy the restaurant with amazing views over the area and the hot tubs (including some northern lights if you're lucky). It's a great place to relax and a nice alternative for just staying in Reykjavík.
