Mihály Kolodko is a Ukrainian artist also with Hungarian roots, renowned for his miniature sculptures located throughout the city of Budapest. He graduated from Lviv Academy of Arts in 2002 and began creating his mini sculptures in 2010; they are usually no bigger than a clenched fist. His famously whimsical bronze statues include Kermit the Frog in Szabadság Square (Liberty Square), a tiny tank at Bem Quay, a likeness of composer Franz List near a bus stop, a Jeff Koons-inspired balloon dog near the Chain Bridge, and more. His most recent sculpture, a Russian warship, is his largest to date and provides a commentary on the war in Ukraine. With these pieces, Kolodko hopes to both entertain and enlighten viewers, bringing to life his interpretations of monumental ideas in the form of regular-sized but recognizable objects. It is a fun scavenger hunt throughout the city to find all of his creative works!
