Our journey begins with a scenic drive from Reykjavík, leading us to the awe-inspiring Seljalandsfoss waterfall. Prepare to be captivated as you not only admire this waterfall from the front but also venture behind it on a unique path. Don’t forget your raincoat – you’re in for a refreshing splash!
Next, we head to the enchanting Þórsmörk, aptly named the “Valley of Thor.” This picturesque valley is cradled by majestic glaciers and mountains, including the impressive Gígjökull glacier tongue. You'll get up close to the legendary Eyjafjallajökull, the glacier-volcano that famously disrupted air travel across Europe in 2010.
Our adventure continues to the breathtaking Stakkholtsgjá canyon, where towering cliffs rise 100 meters (328 feet) high. Game of Thrones fans will recognize this dramatic location from the HBO series – now’s your chance to step into the scene!
Deeper into Þórsmörk valley, we’ll navigate through rivers in our trusty jeep to reach our campsite. Here, you can enjoy short hikes and soak in the spectacular views of glacial riverbeds, framed by surrounding glaciers and mountains.
Depending on the time and weather, we may have the opportunity for additional stops. One potential highlight is Nauthúsagil, a stunning ravine culminating in a beautiful waterfall.
