đ§Drinking Water in Switzerland
Is tap water save to drink?
Julian De Rosa
Switzerland
One of the best things about traveling in Switzerland: the water quality is excellent almost everywhere.
đ° In Switzerland, every public fountain is drinkable unless there is a sign saying âNo Drinking Water / Kein Trinkwasser.â
So itâs basically the opposite of many other countries.
Youâll find fresh mountain water fountains in villages, cities, hiking trails and even train stations - perfect for refilling your bottle for free.
đĄ Swiss tap water (âHahnenwasserâ) is also extremely clean and safe to drink.
The only exception: for preparing bottles for infants, itâs recommended to boil the water first.
đ¸ This can save you a lot of money while traveling in Switzerland.
We personally never buy water in shops.
đ˝ď¸ In many restaurants, you can also ask for tap water instead of bottled water to save money. Some places offer it for free, while others may charge a small service fee.
⨠The water quality in Switzerland is among the best in the world - fresh, clean and often coming directly from natural mountain sources.
