What to expect:

You’ll find the breathtaking Seealpsee tucked between dramatic mountain peaks in the Alpstein region. Crystal-clear water, cows grazing nearby, and that unreal Swiss postcard vibe.

It’s one of those spots where kids can run around, throw stones in the water, and you just sit back and take it all in. On a calm day, the reflections on the lake are next level 🤯

How to get here:

Park at the hiking parking in Wasserauen (paid parking).

From there, it’s a hike up to the lake, you can choose between the steep road or through the forrest.

The route across the street is faster, but not as scenic. On the way up, we took the path through the meadows and woods (turn left right at the parking lot), and on the way back, we took the direct route down the street (from the parking lot, just keep going straight up the street).

• With kids: around 2 hours up (depending on pace & breaks)

• Way down: about 1h

⚠️ The path is quite steep at the beginning, but manageable if you take it slow.

About 1h 15 min from Zurich by car.

Public transport:
Train to Wasserauen - the trail starts right next to the station.

Notes:
Go early or late to avoid crowds - it’s a popular spot.

From mid-April through the end of October, you can enjoy a meal or a drink at the restaurant Seealpsee or even sleep a night in the Hotel „Forelle“.

You can rent small boats at the two restaurants (7CHF/30mins)

There are several drinking fountains along the way where you can refill your water bottles. But anyway bring enough to stay hydrated.

If you’re traveling with a stroller, you can take the paved road up the hill. It’s doable, but steep.
