Storm Point Trail is an easy, breezy 2.3 mile loop that skirts the edge of Yellowstone Lake. Most folks finish it in about 1 to 1.5 hours, and along the way you’ll cross a little boardwalk and reach a rocky point with big, beautiful lake views plus great bird spotting if you’re lucky.

The trailhead parking is tiny and fills up fast in summer, so aim for an early start or go later in the afternoon. Be ready for wind, quick weather roll ins, and mosquitoes when it’s warm. Layers, water, and bug spray are your friends. Stick to the trail to protect the delicate shoreline, keep a respectful distance from wildlife, and bring bear spray (and know how to use it). Heads-up: pups have to sit this one out, since pets aren’t allowed on the trail.
