Mosfellskirkja in the Grímsnes area is a lesser known spot for visitors which comes in handy when you wanna take a good shot of a black church but the famous one in Snæfellsnes is completely hidden under a thick layer of other visitors. This area has a very rich history, as it eas under the control of one of Iceland's most powerful medieval families, the Haukdælir, who controlled the politics and the culture of large swathes of the country for quite a while.
