Skútustaðagígar is an impressive and unique array of pseudo-craters in North Iceland. Located near the lake Mývatn, the area is well known for its birdwatching opportunities and stunning views. The craters were formed during a volcanic eruption when water suddenly exploded into steam as the lava ran over it, causing the ground to form crater shapes.
