Loch Ness is a large freshwater loch in the Scottish Highlands extending for approximately 37 kilometres (23 miles) southwest of Inverness. It is best known as being home to Scotland’s very own mythical creature, the Loch Ness Monster! Mysterious sightings of the beloved Nessie have brought visitors from all corners of the world. This lake is the largest body of water in the Great Glen with an impressive volume of 7.5 km3 (1.8 cu mi) and maximum depth of 226.96 m (744.6 ft).
