This is a lovely little walk including woodland, clifftop views, a waterfall and a pebbled beach... and even the option of ending with a pint in the pub.

While there are longer route options available (look a starting at Hood Lane for these), we opted to take the shorter route due to time constraints. For this walk, park at the Hayburn Wyke Inn car park and start walking down the lane with the pub behind you. As you go through the gate keep to your left and head to another gate which will take you into a woodland. From here keep left and take the pathway leading down towards the beach - it's hard to go wrong. This route will take around 25 minutes to get to the beach.

En route you will find an opening in the trees and bushes which will give you a fantastic view across the bay. Continue a little further and you'll see a set of small waterfalls carrying the water down the valley to the beach. After around 20 minutes you'll reach the beach which is where the Hayburn Wyke waterfall flows out to meet the sea.

Pro Tip:

Plan your trip so that you come for low tide, meaning you'll be able to extend your walk a little by exploring the beach and coastline. At high tide the water comes right to the cliff edge meaning you'll be forced to turn straight back.
