Let me tell you about our slightly bittersweet visit to Nanzoin Temple. As someone who's got a soft spot for reclining Buddhas (the one at Wat Pho in Bangkok set the bar pretty high), I was pumped to check this one out. But you know how travel goes - we hit it during major construction work, so we didn't get the full experience we were hoping for.
BUT - and this is a big but - sometimes travel hiccups lead to unexpected wins. The temple next door turned out to be this fantastic surprise that totally saved the visit. It's like when you're disappointed about not getting into the restaurant you planned for, but end up finding an even better spot by accident.
Moral of the story: even when the main attraction is under renovation, don't skip the neighboring temples. Sometimes Plan B turns out better than Plan A ever could have been!
I feel like if you're in the area you should totally visit this.
