The Badeschiff is one of Berlin’s most distinctive summer attractions—a floating swimming pool anchored in the River Spree, offering a unique blend of urban beach vibes and panoramic city views.

What Is the Badeschiff?

Opened in 2004 as an art project, the Badeschiff—meaning “bathing ship”—is a converted 32.5-meter-long barge transformed into a freshwater pool. Moored near Arena Berlin in Alt-Treptow, it provides a safe and stylish alternative to swimming directly in the Spree, which is not suitable for bathing due to water quality concerns. The pool is 2.05 meters deep and is designed for swimmers only. A wooden footbridge connects the pool to a sandy beach area equipped with hammocks and loungers, creating a relaxed, resort-like atmosphere.

Opening Hours & Time Slots

The Badeschiff operates seasonally, typically from May to September, weather permitting. Visitors are required to book online tickets in advance, selecting from designated two-hour time slots:

• 10:00 – 12:00

• 12:30 – 14:30

• 15:00 – 17:00

• 17:30 – 19:30

• 20:00 – 22:00

Tickets become available four days prior to each date, with a maximum of four tickets per order. For extended visits, consecutive time slots can be booked.

• Price: €8.00 per person per time slot

• Booking: Tickets must be purchased online in advance. Members of the Urban Sports Club can also access the Badeschiff under certain membership plans.

Beyond swimming, the Badeschiff offers a beach bar serving summer cocktails and barbecue, set against the backdrop of Berlin landmarks like the TV Tower, Molecule Man, and the Oberbaum Bridge. The venue often features electronic music, enhancing its appeal as a social hotspot.
