Panorama Ridge – Garibaldi Provincial Park, BC
Panorama Ridge is an iconic alpine hike delivering breathtaking high-elevation views over Garibaldi Lake, glaciers, and surrounding peaks. It's one of BC’s most spectacular day-hike or overnight alpine camping experiences. This hike is a personal favourite!

Trailhead & Route
Start at the Rubble Creek parking area off the Cheakamus Lake Forest Service Road. The trail begins with a climb through forest to Garibaldi Lake, then ascends the steep scree slope and switchbacks up to Panorama Ridge. The final stretch offers open alpine meadows and exposed ridge walking, leading to sweeping views across the lake and glacier wall.

Camping & Permits
Backcountry campsites are available above Garibaldi Lake on the ridge (first-come, first-served platforms and primitive sites). A backcountry camping permit is required.

Seasonal Notes & Tips
Best Time: Late July to September when snow is minimal on upper slopes.
Early summer may require micro-spikes or crampons on the ridge section.
Afternoon thunderstorms are possible; best to start early and summit before mid-day.
Gear Essentials
Waterproof layers, trekking poles for scree/slope control, sturdy boots, sun protection, and plenty of water (no reliable sources above the lake).
