The track meanders through silver beech and podocarp forest, crossing two swing bridges that offer spectacular views of the crystal-clear pools formed by the confluence of the Makarora and Blue Rivers. The pools are renowned for their striking blue hue, especially vivid on sunny days. While swimming is possible, the glacier-fed waters are frigid year-round .
