Budapest is full of surprises. Old buildings, nice streets, and a fun vibe. Here are some tips to make your trip easier and more fun:

Money

Hungary uses Forints, not Euros. Cards work in most places, but keep some cash for small shops or markets.

Getting around

Trams, buses, and metro are cheap and easy. You can get almost anywhere fast.

Two parts of the city

Buda is quiet and hilly with the castle. Pest is busy, full of shops, cafés, and bars. Try to see both.

Hot baths

Budapest has famous thermal baths. Széchenyi is big and busy. Gellért is nice and quiet. Bring flip-flops if you can.

Be polite

A few words in Hungarian, like “köszönöm” (thank you), are appreciated. Say hello when entering shops or cafés.

Fun bars

Ruin bars are old buildings turned into cool bars. Szimpla Kert is the most famous, but there are more to explore.

Walk a lot

The city is easy to walk in. Comfortable shoes are a must. Views from Fisherman’s Bastion are amazing.
