🚶‍♀️ Wolverley Village Circular – A Lovely Little Loop with Picturesque Village Views, Stream, Play Area & Cake Stops
Wolverley’s got that perfect mix of countryside calm, cute village vibes, and enough kid-friendly bits to keep everyone happy. This circular walk is just under 2 miles, so it’s ideal for a gentle walk with little legs in tow, and a dog of course.

🌳 The Walk
The route starts just above Wolverley village. You’ll find a decent area of off-road parking and the footpath heads into the woods right by there. Along the route you'll wander past stone cottages, the old church and the picturesque village stream.

Follow our exact walk here

If the church gate is locked you can just retrace your steps a bit, go through the gate on the right that leads to the doctors surgery and the traffic island and make your way to the left down the one way road until you get to the other side of the gate

🛝 Play Area & Paddling
There’s a sweet little playground to break up the walk, which you can find over the other side of the road at Wolverley Sports & Social Club (///spot.memory.only) and if it’s warm, the shallow stream running through the village is perfect for a bit of paddling. Bring a towel… or just accept the soggy socks.

Cake, Tea & Pub Stops
Wolverley does food and drink well:

  • Gil’s Café – Cosy, homemade everything. The Malteser cheesecake has a bit of a rep

  • The Lock Inn & Old Smithy Tearoom – Right by the canal, with proper hearty meals and a big tea selection

  • The Queen’s Head – A classic pub for post-walk drinks or a Sunday roast situation

  • Parking: There’s some in the village, right next to Gil's Tea Room but it can get busy, or off-road parking right by the start of the walk at ///bronze.stored.groom

  • Toilets: Public toilets near the play area

  • Pushchair-Friendly: Mostly flat, just a few bumpy bits sturdy wheels help

  • Dogs: Welcome—just pop them on a lead where needed

  • What to wear: Wellies and waterproofs aren't really needed unless it's winter and kids still want to paddle (like mine...!) but I'd say the walk is suitable for trainers otherwise but there's one woodland section
