How to get to Lapland?

By plane: Helsinki-Vantaa Airport (HEL), near the capital, is the country's largest airport and offers numerous connections to and from other parts of the country, as well as abroad.

By ship: from Helsinki there are sea connections with Germany, Poland, Sweden, Latvia, and Estonia. It's also possible to arrive by ship via Vaasa (from Umeå, Sweden), Turku (from Stockholm, Sweden), and Hanko (from Nynäshamn, Sweden). Many companies offer cruises in the Baltic Sea, some of which also stop in Finnish ports for day trips.

By car: at Finland's northeastern border, you can arrive by car from Sweden and Norway. You can also drive your car onto a ferry and then cross the Baltic to Finland.

In addition to Helsinki, there are some national airports, such as Rovaniemi (RVN) and Kittilä (KTT) in Lapland, with direct international flights. Check the options from your starting point.
