Currency

• The official currency is the Egyptian Pound (EGP), but US Dollars, Euros, and British Pounds are often accepted in tourist areas.

• It's advisable to exchange some cash into local currency for small expenses.

• Credit cards are accepted in large hotels, restaurants, and shops, but for markets and taxis, it's better to have cash.

Time zone

• GMT+2 (one hour ahead of Italy, two hours ahead when Italy observes daylight saving time).

Language

• The official language is Arabic, but English, Italian, Russian, and French are also spoken in tourist areas.

Electricity

• 220V, 50Hz with type C and F sockets (the same used in Italy, so no adapter is needed).

Opening hours

• Shops and bazaars: generally open from 10:00 to 22:00, some close during Friday prayers.

• Banks: from 8:30 to 14:00 (Sunday-Thursday). ATMs are available everywhere.

• Restaurants: usually open from 12:00 to 23:00.

Safety and health

• It's recommended to avoid drinking tap water and prefer bottled water.

• Private healthcare is of good quality, but it's important to have health insurance.

Transport

• Taxis and minibuses are the most common means of transport, but you need to negotiate the price before getting in.

• Many hotels offer shuttles to the city center and Naama Bay.
