What you'll do

Trust me, when I tell you: You could stay in Cape Town for a month and not see it all! The city has a lot of layers, and, like an onion, you unpeel one after another, the longer you stay. But since most of us don't have that much time, I've created this itinerary, that includes Cape Town, the winelands, parts of the coast and a good mix of food, wine, sightseeing and outdoor activities. A few infos about this itinerary:

  • Since many of the Cape Town foods & crafts markets only happen on the weekend, I would recommend you mix and match the days and visit one of the markets when they are open

  • I added multiple restaurant recommendations, just swap them for whatever place you like most

  • If you don't want to take the sightseeing bus, you could do all of those trips with your rental car of course but for the ease of just settling in during the first few days, I really recommend you skip driving and just let someone drive you!

Day 1

Welcome to Cape Town! 🇿🇦 Today, you take an Uber from the airport into town and just get settled in. After you check into your hotel (and maybe even enjoy the pool for a moment), why don't you take a walk around your neighbourhood? Just walk up Kloof Street for a little bit, maybe grab a coffee, and then walk back down through Kloof Nek Road. Those Table Mountain views should already make you feel excited for the 2 weeks to come! Then it's time for an early dinner – tomorrow will be a full day!

1

The Cloud Nine Boutique Hotel

hotel

Small, centrally-located boutique hotel

Located in the heart of Cape Town, you can basically walk to some of the best restaurants and bars in the city from here. The Boutique Hotel has a restaurant with a rooftop terrace, a pool, and a spa. I love the eclectic interior and the friendly staff here. If you want to treat yourself, you can book a room with Table Mountain views – but you will also have uninterrupted views of the city's most famous sight directly from the pool!

2

Kloof Street

Giro turistico

Vibrant Bar Street

This street is the extension of the famous Long Street Party Mile. Here, you'll find countless great delis, cafés, bars, and restaurants (just like in neighbouring Bree Street). In addition to that, Kloof Street offers amazing Table Mountain views. It's quite safe to walk, during the day you'll be fine. At night, only walk along Kloof Street and not the side streets and only in a bigger group. If you are only one, two or 3 people, I'd recommend you take an Uber or Bolt.

3

Yours Truly

sbarra

Café, bar & hangout spot in one

Located in the same building as the Never@Home hostel, this bar is a popular hangout spot with backpackers and digital nomads. Their outdoor terrace is spacious and a great place to hang out and work a bit while also meeting other people!

4

Kloof Nek Road

Giro turistico

Table Mountain & Lion's Head views

A step road leading up to Table Mountain with spectacular views of said mountain and beautiful Victorian architecture. It's steep but well worth a stroll!

5

Rick's Cafe Americain

ristorante

Casablanca-themed restaurant with beautiful terrace

Love this Casablanca-movie themed restaurant so much! Everything here is decorated in Moroccan-style and the movie is played on several screens. You can either have a drink in their bar downstairs or have dinner upstairs on the beautiful Victorian balcony. Their Moroccan food and also the platters to share a really nice. Also one of those places I keep coming back to 😊
