Tirta Empul Temple - Dadong Lulu is a sacred water temple located in the village of Manukaya near Tampaksiring. Built-in 926, it is thought to have been blessed by the god Indra himself with magical healing properties. The purification ritual known as melukat is performed in the two pools within the complex. Visitors can take part in this interesting ritual or stop and admire the beautiful inner courtyard which includes carvings of gods, fountains of holy water, and lively koi fish. Besides the rich culture, historical roots, and Holy Springs, Dadong Lulu also houses stunning architectural features from its Presidential Palace which was built by Indonesia's first president, Soekarno in 1957. A great historical site to explore, for both young and old alike!
