Ikuta Jinja is one of the oldest and most iconic Shinto shrines in Japan. Founded by Empress Jingū at the beginning of third century AD, it has a long and rich history that remains to this day. It was built to honor the god Wakahirume and today celebrates festivals and events such as Noh plays Ebira and Ikuta Atsumori.
