Message from Mel & Phil

Did you really go to Bali if you didn't visit the monkey forest at least once?? We've heard some horror stories, as I'm sure you have too, but honestly this was one of the funniest activities we've done in Bali!

We've actually done it a few times as we've had friends and family visit, and admittedly, the experience was different every time, so I guess you just get lucky some days and others you don't! The first time we did it, the monkeys were all over the place and hilarious to watch, and the guys who work there were giving us food to feed them and they were climbing on us and all sorts! But the most recent time, they'd just been fed and were sleepy and uninterested / nowhere to be seen!

Whether you decide to check it out or not while you're in Ubud, just please make sure you have your valuables well secured, and that you're not carrying any food or plastic bags/bottles - they will steal them off you, and they can be viscious! They could also take your phone so be careful! Every time we've been there's always been someone fighting with a monkey over food or plastic!
