Timaru, a place you probably haven't heard of, but holds a very special place in our heart. This is where Cody's family is from! (well actually a little town called Pleasant Point outside of the main Timaru city). Timaru is not a touristy place, it does have the cruise dock but that's probably as touristy as it gets. We love coming back here to our favourite Indian place in the whole world, our favourite cafes and just being surrounded by so many memories of our time here with family. We recommend visiting at least once and experiencing the wild penguins nesting at Caroline bay from October to March.
