The Poios Waterfall is part of the Waterfalls Trail. However, we can visit it separately. The trail is about 2 km long (round trip) and is relatively easy, despite some more technical parts (where there is a rope to hold on to). The Cascatas Trail starts and ends in Vila de Rei , a stone's throw from the Geodesic Center of Portugal. Over 10 km, this trail reveals a true paradise hidden in Central Portugal . The main attractions of the walking route are, without a doubt, the Cascata do Escalvadoiro and the Cascata dos Poios, two of the most beautiful waterfalls in central Portugal . However, the natural attractions of the Trilho das Cascatas are far from limited to these two magnificent waterfalls. Much of the walking route follows the watercourses of Ribeira do Lavadouro (also known as Ribeira das Trutas), Ribeiro do Vale Feito and Ribeiro da Vila, all of them idyllically nestled in deep valleys flanked by steep cliffs. There you will find another myriad of wells, lagoons and small waterfalls that form a natural picture of disarming beauty. It goes without saying that, if you walk the Cascades Trail on hot days, it is practically impossible to resist a refreshing swim!
