The Puhoi Pub & Hotel is a classic Kiwi pub that's been around since 1879, and stepping inside feels like stepping back in time. They have beer on tap, a massive menu of pub food and an interior covered in quirky antiques and memorabilia.

If you're travelling north from Auckland, I recommend stopping here for a coffee/drink! It's only 45 north of the CBD along State Highway 1 and a lovely road trip stop. Alternatively, if you're looking for a day out, Wenderholm Regional Park isn't too far from the pub and is home to lots of beautiful walking tracks.
