Punakaiki Beach Camp sits next to the beach and is tucked behind the breathtaking Paparoa National Park. It is a dream spot for anyone who wants to slow down, sleep under the stars and drink their morning coffee by the ocean.
They have cliffside campsites with epic views as well as cabins, holiday houses, and riverside chalets. You’ll find all the usual facilities you’d expect in a holiday park, including a communal kitchen and living area, hot showers, laundry and a children's playground. But the real highlight is the holiday park's location!
If you're hiking the Paparoa Track, they have transport to and from the trailhead, and the famous Pancake Rocks and Blowholes are just a 15-minute walk away. If you’re coming to Punakaiki, staying here is a no-brainer!
Personal tip: The West Coast is best explored on a self-drive trip, and you’ll need a car to stay at Punakaiki Beach Camp. It’s about a 45-minute drive north of Greymouth or 1 hour 20 minutes south of Westport along State Highway 6. This stretch of road is one of the most stunning drives in the country, and if you’re heading this way, make sure to allow extra time in your day for lots of road trip stops.
