Panorama Ridge is one of BC's most well known day hiking destinations. And it really does take all day to get there - don't underestimate this hike! Alternatively, consider visiting as part of a multi-day hiking trip instead (easier).

Overlooking bright blue Garibaldi Lake and many layers of surrounding mountains, it's easy to see why hiking to Panorama Ridge is so popular. The views are simply spectacular.

This strenuous day hike is 28km return from the Rubble Creek with 1,600m elevation gain. For reference, I usually categorise any hike with over 800m elevation to be difficult. Expect to spend 10-12 hours on the trail.

A free day-use pass is required to hike the trail during the main hiking season (mid June to September), which can only be secured two days in advance via the BC Parks day pass website. Passes become available at 7am.

For a multi-day hike, there are two main options - start the Rubble Creek Trailhead and stay at Taylor Meadows or Garibaldi Lake or start at the Cheakamus Trailhead and stay at Helm Creek. All campgrounds require reservations, which are available four months in advance via the BC Parks website. Campers do not have to have a day-use trail pass.

The best time to hike this trail is mid June to early October. There may still be snow on the trail during the early or late season. The trail travels through avalanche terrain - do not attempt in winter without avalanche education.
