Xizhou Ancient Town (喜洲古镇 – Xǐzhōu Gǔzhèn) è uno dei borghi più autentici dello Yunnan, situato sulla sponda occidentale del lago Erhai, a nord di Dali. È classificato come AAAA (4A) e famoso per le tradizionali architetture del popolo Bai.

Le stradine lastricate sono costeggiate da case Bai storiche, alcune trasformate in boutique hotel o caffetterie, altre ancora abitate da famiglie locali. Xizhou è anche celebre per il suo mercato tradizionale, dove ogni mattina contadini e artigiani si ritrovano a vendere prodotti freschi e specialità tipiche.

Il borgo rappresenta la perfetta combinazione di cultura e natura: da un lato la vista sulle Cangshan Mountains, dall’altro le acque tranquille del lago Erhai.

Xizhou Ancient Town (喜洲古镇 – Xǐzhōu Gǔzhèn) is one of the most authentic heritage towns in Yunnan, located on the western shore of Erhai Lake, north of Dali. It is rated AAAA (4A) and renowned for its traditional Bai architecture.

Stone-paved alleys are lined with historic Bai houses, some converted into boutique hotels and cafés, while others are still family homes. Xizhou is also famous for its traditional morning market, where farmers and artisans gather daily to sell fresh produce and local crafts.

The town perfectly combines culture and nature: with the Cangshan Mountains rising behind and Erhai Lake stretching out in front.

✨ Tip: taste the local specialty, Xizhou Baba, a Bai-style stuffed flatbread, either sweet or savory.
