The Eiger Express is a large cable car traveling from Grindelwald Terminal to Eigergletscher.

This cable car is primarily used for those traveling to the Jungfraujoch glacier viewpoint. You can also use this cable car to access the Eiger Trail and Eiger Walk down to Kleine Scheidegg.

There are 44 cabins that run continuously throughout the day, fitting 26 people per cabin. The ride is 15 mins. No 1st class.

How to get there

By public transport: Take a train to Grindelwald Terminal. Exit the train and walk about 2 min walk through the station to the cable car entrance, labeled Eiger Express.

By car: Drive to Grindelwald and follow signs to Grindelwald Terminal - Grundstrasse 54, 3818 Grindelwald. There is a large parking garage attached to the cable car station. You get a ticket and pay when you leave.

You can purchase tickets online or at the Grindelwald Terminal station from machines or staffed ticket desk.

The Eiger Express is free with the Jungfrau Travel Pass. Discounted with Swiss Travel Pass, Swiss Half Fare Card, Berner Oberland Pass, and GA.

Reservations

If you are visiting the Jungfraujoch, you must buy tickets in advance, which includes a guaranteed seat on both the Eiger Express and Jungfraubahn railway.

Note: this reservation is required May to August, optional from Sept to April.

If you are not visiting Jungfraujoch, you can simply show up and wait for an open space on the cable car. Eiger Express tickets do not sell out and you can buy them immediately before your journey.
